We all need encouragement, especially in hard times. That's one reason I'm a writer. And one reason I enjoy Wintley Phipps. He often says, "It's in the quiet crucible of your private personal sufferings that your noblest dreams are born and God's greatest gifts are given in compensation for what you've been through."
To all those on this network who need an encouraging word for today—and one you can take with you into tomorrow—think about that. As my friend Dr. David Baldwin says, "God doesn't waste our tears." And I'll add that neither should we.
Make the most of what you have. And if it seems like only rubble, be like Nehemiah, and build your future on what's available. With God's help, that will be enough.
