Does your soul cry? Do you recognize the sound it makes?

I believe that we all internally moan for spiritual satisfaction (Romans 8:22-23), almost as if we have an inner baby that requires attention or sustenance. If we're not aware of the reasons behind our universally intangible longings, we often attempt to satisfy these cravings with sometimes obvious or obscure external actions: These actions, whether good or bad, won't bring us the internal gratification that we really desire: It is God who can satisfy us and make a positive and uplifting difference (Psalm 37:4)- not promiscuity or a good deed.

If only we would put our pride aside and cry out to God (James 4:9-10); If only we would realize that He's our source and that everything and everyone else are resources; If only we would cry out while acknowledging that only He can fill us. A complex God He may seem, but He plainly requires that we come to Him (James 4:8).

Will you come to the Lord? Will you decide that temporary happiness is not enough but consistent joy and peace is what you truly desire? Will you let Him in to show you how to truly love?

There is no special formula. Just pray from your heart to God, and He will save you. If you feel lost and just don’t know what to pray, here’s a prayer of salvation that you can pray:

Dear Lord,
I admit that I am a sinner. I have done many things that don’t please you. I have lived my life for myself. I am sorry and I repent. I ask you to forgive me. I believe that you died on the cross for me, to save me (
Mark 15). You did what I could not do for myself. I come to you now and ask you to take control of my life, I give it to you. Help me to live every day in a way that pleases you. I love you, Lord, and I thank you that I will spend all eternity with you.

Amen {Mary Fairchild, 2010}

Now, all of this may sound mystical, or weird but what I do know is that we all have souls and we all have spiritual cravings that only God can truly satisfy. The first step is to make yourself available to God. You might also say,

"I want to get ready before I can come to God".

There is no way to "prepare" for a Holy God and this Holy God loves you so much, that He would rather you waste no time in preparing just so He can spend more time getting to know you as you are. And as He continues to learn about you, He will never  reject you or stop loving you. Yes, He is the King of Kings and the Master of the Universe but the Master of the Universe wants a relationship with you- not to just give you things and continue to let your soul wallow in despair. Does your soul cry? Do you recognize that it cries out for the God who's created you and loves you furiously? Will you acknowledge that only God can truly provide what your heart's been longing for?
